10th December 2008, Glasgow
I am pleased to invite you to the next Colour, Style & Trends Prediction Seminar in Glasgow, organised by the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) in conjunction with Scottish Enterprise. This season we plan to provide you with even more trend specific information by inviting Catherine Ramé, Head of International Development for Carlin International, a leading global trend agency to deliver key information for the Spring / Summer 2010 season.
The event aims to publicise colour, style and trend information to Scottish fashion, interior, product, textile, and design businesses in order to give them easy access to up-to-date information relevant to their sector. The event also encourages Scottish businesses to utilise trend information and other intelligence they acquire to their best advantage when introducing new ranges and planning future production. You will also have an opportunity to access the prediction library that Scottish Enterprise is funding; time will be allocated at the event for you to access this valuable resource.
The event will also include a session covering IP in Fashion, delivered by Nicola Giles, Design Wales. This presentation will provide an overview of intellectual property (IP) in the UK, focusing on the different IP rights available for protecting designs. The IP rights covered will include trade marks; copyright, unregistered design right, registered designs and patents. Emphasis will be placed on; Ownership, Duration, Cost, Infringement and Exploitation. The presentation's rationale is to demystify intellectual property law, making it more accessible to designers by allowing them to maximise the value of their IP and maintain their business reputation.

We will confirm your place once registration closes on Wednesday 3rd December 2008. Heather will be pleased to provide you with any further information you may require.
